Of possible interest

Consider the journalistic standards & quality for yourself:  Spectator Between the Sheets .

Parents may find this of possible interest, though.

Whence merit?

No different, and in fact a lot tamer than the "Lovelines" call-in show on WHCL when I was a student. Only difference is, this is on the world wide interweb.

Hamilton alumni may be interested in this additional evidence of vulgarity and low standards on campus.

From this alum's perspective (of 55 years+) it seems there are a couple of observations which might be instructive. First, why the world wide web??? Sex is a personal thing and is best kept in the realm of privacy, i.e., whatever goes on in your bedroom that's agreed upon and not hurtful is none of my business. So why not keep this sort of column in the printed Spectator (I assume a printed version exists) and eliminate it from the internet? That might not only be appropriate for real young children surfing the net, but it might help to convince the adult world that you are focused on an academic education as opposed to a Health 101 education.

Second, there is a hard to describe "edge" to the article along with a subtle sense of humor woven throughout. It's at once "in your face" (dont' touch that) and satirical. In a college campus circulation publication that should be acceptable but it is a little tacky for the internet and on the net it fails to enhance the College's reputation as in institiution of "higher" education.

The article and follow up banter was not shocking to me in any way. Actually, we older grads could probably give you some good advice in the realm of sexual behavior, so that's not the point. The point is the forum seems both inappropriate and demeaning to the College.
