What About Bob? [John J. Miller] http://phibetacons.nationalreview.com/

President Bush has nominated Robert Paquette for a slot on the decision-making body of the National Endowment for the Humanities. He's one of the guys behind the Alexander Hamilton Institute, which recently had such a sorry experience at Hamilton College. The position requires Senate confirmation.

Check out the Hamilton College web site--the faculty news tab...Nothing about Bob....Two items which did make the list today-7-11-are:

An Asst Prof of Africana studies presenting a paper to the "Association of Cultural Studies Crossroads Conference" in Jamaica

Hamilton's hosting of the Int'l Conference of the "International Association for the Economics of Participation"--the IAFEP...

Nothing about Bob....I guess it's not news worthy enough!!!!

Is having a nonimee to the National Council on the Humanities too "disruptive" to the Hamilton community? Not sufficiently "of Hamilton"?

I would have to agree with Hunter Brown on this one. Whatever the administrations disagreement with Professor Paquette about the AHI, the failure to even mention this prestigious appointment on the College's website strikes me as classless. The administration seems to be thinking more about itself than the reputation of the College.

I've emailed for an explanation. No response.

Wake up Class of 68. The White House made the announcement on July 10th. Press releases go out all over the place. Do you think Hamilton College didn't receive one. Do you think Stewart is waiting for a French translation?

Stewart and Urgo are waiting their marching orders from the Barons on the board. Paquette should tell them all to take a hike.

Congratulations Bob. Urgo is in China. Who knows where Stewart is.

The team has not yet had time to huddle on how to handle this.

Does anyone know if President Stewart or anyone on the board of trustees has contacted Professor Paquette with congratulations?
