There is a growing body of evidence that governance model in the private sector of higher education is stressed, if not failing. Insularity, lack of transparency, no meaningful market for governance or mechanic for change. And it’s epidemic.

RPI vs its Republicans I’ve learned today that the College Republicans at Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute have had their website taken offline by the university. This comes in the wake of the College Republicans embarrassing the university by exposing their invitation to Iraqi terrartist Wafaa Bilal, who hacked an al Qaeda online video game to create a piece of video called “Virtual Jihadi” in which he, Wafaa, hunts down President Bush and kills him with a suicide bomb. Bilal had been invited to RPI, a university that receives millions of dollars in defense-related research grants, to exhibit Virtual Jihadi until the RPI Republicans blew the whistle.
