Stupid is as stupid does: William & Mary

An interesting article on The College of William & Mary  …  “defining traditions of openness that sustain universities” by allowing Sex Workers’ Art Show on campus next month.  One supposes it a solution for the Great Ennui.

But wait…isn’t is this the very same place that removed the cross from its chapel …  and then, under threat of litigation, returned it…under a closed lucite case where it remains today? Openness indeed!

Hamilton has been there, done that & gotten the ‘Annie’ tee shirt already. Its old, rotted stuff, and we leave William & Mary’s President to explore further the “traditions of openness that sustain” alumni donations.

The latest from the great cruisehip called Hamilton College. The wellness program makes more sense than the curriculum.

"As part of the Campus Wellness program, an e-mail registration system has been created, and already activities spaces are being filled online.

Offered this year are classes in triathlon training, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, rock climbing (and belaying), yoga, power yoga, swimming, free weights, Pilates, indoor cycling, cardio kickboxing, step aerobics, deep water exercising, core training, self-defense, ballroom dancing and something called "cardio pump and core," described on the Campus Wellness Web page as "a combination, crazy-mixed-up-class of heart pumping cardio, muscle toning using free weights and core/stretching/balancing work."

I guess that constitutes "buff and blue" these days. Strong body - weak mind.

Both of the above are pretty weak unconstructive comments.

Perhaps a bit over invested?

Intercollegiate Studies Institute reports:

The "Sex Worker Art Show funded by taxpayer dollars . . . was a celebration of Whore Culture' . . . . 100 students were REQUIRED to attend as a mandatory class work."

When will this traveling porn show visit Hamilton College?

The liberal fringe which often seeks to hide behind its phony "constitutional" "right to privacy" seems to be undermining the concept in a grand way!

To fill spare time, getting physically fit is far better than swilling liquor and using drugs.

I applaud the Hamilton College Wellness program.

Perhaps the administration and the trustees can use it as a model to build a more coherent curriculum.

I am not against the wellness program per se, after all how can anyone be against wellness?!?. However, wasn't this what the carry over sports program was intended to do without devoting so many resources to facilities not to mention the "carbon" footprint which seems to have stomped out a great deal of Hamilton's bucolic look in the last twenty years. The carry over sports idea put the responsibilty on the individual to stay physically fit without the college and alumni(and taxpayer)having to commit resources and facilities. There I go again - talking about personal responsibility. - shame on me.

You're right in your conclusion. Guess today's students have lots of spare time. Sounds to me like the College has become a Spa. What a great use of Alumni dollars. Is there still a curriculum?
