Summer reading
The Wall Street Journal article, A College Education, is very much worth a quick read.
At the risk of a little mission creep we also recommend It’s Not About the Truth by Mike Pressler (and Don Yaeger). It is not a scholarly piece, but the plain facts about the behavior of the prosecutor, local police, the administration, and the faculty of Duke are simply stunning. Latest news aside, Brodhead remains the icon of failed academic and ethical leadership. Everyone should know what he did and did not do, and we look forward to the day when he grabs a seat next to Nifong on the next bus out of town.
Pressler is a originally a Wilton Warrior (sufficient reason alone to urge you to buy the book) who in contrast to many in the academy understands loyalty, integrity, and leadership.
